I evaluated the source “Physics and Star Trek” (http://www.physicsguy.com/physandtrek/) using Quick Guide form for web-site evaluation (http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/TeachingLib/Guides/Internet/EvalForm.pdf).           I considered the site credible because I could find answer for 5 out of 6 questions of this list.
The evaluation I’ve done is the following:
Quick Guide
1 Authority - the author is Jason W.Hinson, a physicist
2 Purpose - the source is created as an attempt to prove or disprove some concepts used in science fiction from the point of view of particle physics
3 Publication & format - Where was it published? In what medium?
4 Relevance - Physics has nothing to deal with my research,so this source is irrelevant for me; the scope of this research is to show how science fiction is close or far to “real science”.
5 Date of publication - It is not shown
6 Documentation - Yes,there is a link to “The Original Usenet Physics FAQ”

It is important to evaluate the quality of information on the internet for the following reasons:

  1. Information provided on a site may be subjective
  2. The author of this site may only sound authoritative while not having even basic knowledge in fields he writes on indeed
  3. If a site is a personal one,its author is free to post there whatever he wants, even the information which is untrue.
