Literature Review

My course paper is devoted to the change of the category of noun case in the history of the English history, so I have chosen two sources to begin with which provid e a brief introductory material to the theme of my research . The first source ( https://studopedia.su/10_45797_Old-English-Noun.html ) contains a brief description of four noun case s in Old English (n ominative, g enetive, d ative, a ccusative ) and their formation according to the three types of noun declension. From the second source ( https://www.ranez.ru/article/id/687/ ) , I could find out that these types of noun declension were mostly reduced in Late Middle English. If the author of the first source recognizes four noun case forms in Old English, Karl Brunner,instead, recognizes the following five case forms of nouns in Old English: nominative, genitive,dative,accusative, instrumental. Source for Literature Review Summary For my summary I have chosen the source “ Literature Reviews (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) ”. This source is a writing center in which several language specialists share with us some writing skills.One can find information about them in the field “about”—>”meet our staff”.      In the source I’m summarizing, a specialist provides a brief definition of a literature review,states its importance in academic research process and suggests some strategies to write review properly.      In a short introduction the author defines a literature review as a discussion of published information in a particular topic which can be presented in various forms, from a simple summary of a literary text with elements of “synthesis” to evaluation of relevance of the sources concluded with advices to the reader. Task-1-Google-Scholar

In my first post I would like to share with you a summary of the article  “Sound Symbolism”  written by John J.Ohala published on Google scholar. You can access it at                 ( https://bit.ly/2yaA10S ). I have chosen this article because its theme is one of the most recent themes I have had on Theoretical Phonetics lecture. In this article John J. Ohala first gives a definition of the term “sound symbolism” and flicks through  its  history and  mentions Socratus who debated the “issue of whether the names for things are arbitrary or whether instead they are a natural reflection of the things named ” with his disciples.
